Scott Powers Straight Talk Wealth Advisor
Scott entered the financial services field in 1999 after earning his finance degree from Bryant University in Rhode Island, and then spending two years in Lockheed Martin’s Financial Leadership Training Program.
Scott began his career with a small high-end planning firm outside of Boston before starting Powers Financial Group, LLC in 2002, which focused on retirement planning and offered clients everything from stocks to insurance.
In 2009 Scott, and his wife, Heather, decided they had enough of wet summers and cold New England winters, packed up their stuff, their two boys Chantz and Sutton, and headed for the sunshine of Southern California. Scott shortly connected with Straight Talk Wealth and realized his skills in retirement planning and asset protection were a perfect fit for the great work they were providing their clients.
As much as Scott loves the work that he does, Scott yet enjoys being part of the community and giving back even more. That’s why, with the help of his friends, he started a Special Olympics Track & Field team seven years ago, growing it from 17 athletes to almost 80, before handing the reins over to a new set of coaches. “We raised money for our program by jumping into the frigid Atlantic every Super Bowl Sunday, gathering close to $8000 a year for our bravery and foolishness,” he says.
Scott was also a member of Business Networks International for eight years and was twice elected President of his chapter.
Scott emphasizes “I’m fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time with my family, and we put a priority on keeping active and healthy.”
And if that wasn’t enough, in his “spare” time, Scott and Heather also do some acting and are both members of the Screen Actors Guild. Next year, you just might see Scott in a Super Bowl commercial for Pepsi!
